Plants are living Wood element energy: growth, vitality, upward movement, renewal. Your Liver system craves it, your rooms need it, and your feng shui benefits from it.

But in 2027, where you place those plants matters more than usual. The annual flying star chart determines which sectors of your home welcome growth energy and which ones need to stay quiet. A thriving money tree in the wrong sector can activate the very star you are trying to suppress. A bare corner in the right sector wastes an opportunity the chart only offers once every nine years.

Best Sectors for Plants

Southeast — Star 8 (Prosperity): Your Plant Powerhouse

Star 8, the Prosperity Star, lands in the Southeast in 2027. The Southeast is traditionally the Bagua's wealth and abundance sector, and having the #8 Wealth Star here is an alignment that happens only once every nine years. Plants amplify this energy beautifully: Wood element represents growth and expansion, and living greenery symbolizes thriving abundance.

What to place here:

• A healthy money tree (Pachira aquatica) or jade plant — both are traditional wealth symbols.
• Lucky bamboo (富贵竹) in a group of eight stalks, honoring Star 8.
• Any lush, upward-growing plant that looks vibrant and well-cared-for. The signal is prosperity, so a droopy or yellowing plant sends the opposite message.

Pot choice: Earth-tone pots (terracotta, sandy beige, warm brown) support the Earth-element Star 8. A Fire-colored pot (red, burgundy) also works, since Fire feeds Earth. Avoid metal or white pots here — Metal weakens Earth.

South — Star 4 (Romance & Academic): Flowers and Study Plants

Star 1 is a Water star that benefits from the productive cycle: Metal produces Water, and Water produces Wood. Sectors to Keep Quiet

North — Star 5 (Five Yellow): No Plants

The 五黄 (wǔ huáng) — Five Yellow Misfortune Star — sits in the North in 2027. This is the single most dangerous annual star, and the fundamental rule is: do not activate the North. No plants, no water features, no bright lights, no noise. Plants represent growth energy, which is the opposite of what this sector needs. Growth activates the star. The North should have metal cures (a six-rod hollow metal wind chime, a brass Wu Lou, or heavy metal objects) and nothing else. Metal exhausts the Five Yellow's Earth energy — that is the only intervention this sector wants.

East — Star 7 (Robbery): Keep It Sparse

Star 7 is a Metal star associated with theft, deception, and accidents. The East is Wood's natural home sector, and in the productive cycle, Metal controls (chops) Wood. Placing vigorous plants in the East could create a clash — the star "attacks" the plants energetically, and the resulting turbulence can manifest as unexpected losses or conflict.

If you already have a plant in the East that you cannot easily move, keep it small and unobtrusive. Do not add new greenery here. The classical cure for Star 7 is Water element (blue accents, a small vase of still water), not Wood.

Southwest — Tai Sui: Do Not Disturb

The Southwest hosts Star 6 (an auspicious Heaven star) but also 太岁 (Tài Suì) — the Grand Duke Jupiter — for the entire 丁未 (Fire Goat) year. The cardinal rule with Tai Sui is do not disturb: no renovation, no digging, no rearranging. This applies to plants too. West — Star 2 (Illness) + San Sha: Quiet and Metal

The West carries both the #2 Illness Star and the San Sha affliction in 2027, making it the most restricted sector alongside the North.
